Here are 1 core idea, 3 actions, and 1 question to consider this week.

1 Idea

You're not lazy. You're experiencing identity protection. Your brain's primary function is keeping your behavior consistent with who you think you are. When you try to act disciplined while identifying as undisciplined, your brain creates resistance. The solution isn't more willpower. It's flipping your identity first so your brain fights for you instead of against you.

3 Actions

1. Identity Declaration

Pick one specific identity you're becoming, not a goal you want to achieve. Write it in present or near-future tense: "I'm someone who trains" (not "I want to work out more"). This signals to your brain that this is who you are now, not someday.

Do this:

  • Choose one identity (e.g., "I'm someone who does hard things")

  • Write it down in present tense: "I am..." or "I'm becoming..."

  • Make it about being, not doing

2. Immediate Action Protocol

Prove the identity through tiny actions you complete right now. Not tomorrow. Your brain can't argue with actions already completed. The action must be immediate (within minutes), completable in under 5 minutes, and so small you can do it even when you feel terrible.

Do this:

  • Ask: “What's the smallest action I can do RIGHT NOW that proves this identity?"

  • Complete it within 60 seconds (e.g., two pushups if you're "someone who trains")

  • Stack one immediate action daily. Each one is a vote for your new identity

3. Self-Acknowledgment Loop

After completing your immediate action, pause for 5 seconds and say out loud: "I said I'd do it, and I did it." This builds trust with yourself. Each acknowledgment creates self-respect, which becomes addictive. It’s better than any external reward because you earned it from yourself.

Do this:

  • Complete your immediate action

  • Pause 5 seconds and acknowledge it out loud

  • Notice the feeling of keeping a promise to yourself

1 Question

What's one identity statement you can write down right now, and what's the smallest action you can take in the next 60 seconds to prove it?
